Pool Party / Sunday Scholars Picnic

Everyone was invited to swim at the Home of Sis. Christine and Bro. Sol L.Gorrell after the meeting on September 11th to kick off the start of the 2005 -2006 Sunday School year.

All the CYC members swam to their hearts content. A few even honed their diving skills. Josh Slatton showed us just how fast we can empty all the water from the pool by doing repeated cannon balls. Brandon Kestle performed his amazing “tornado twister” dive. Even Bro. Dave Bennett got in on the action by belly-flopping off the diving board. Too bad we didn’t have the camera ready for that one!

A bountiful lunch was spred before us at about 2:00 pm. After giving thanks with Bro. Jim Lemmon, we all ate to our hearts content. There was no waiting 30 minutes after eating for these Kids... They were back in the pool almost still chewing.

Later in the afternoon, we assigned everyone “books of the old testament” names and had two teams line us all up in order. They guys team, consisting of Brandon, Luke, and Philip made it almost all the way through, having put Lamentations before Isaiah. The Girls Team, Bianka, Carrie and Cheyenne did almost as well stopping at the Major Prophets.

All-in-all it was a fun day. We had a few minor mishaps. Ellie Lemmon and Faith Lemmon slid off their floatation device into the deep end of the Pool, but luckily Sis. Ruth and Sis. Christine were there to see it happen and Sister Christine jumped in fully clothed to save them. A lesson learned for all. Rachel cut her foot on the drain of the deep end doing high dives all the way to the 9 Ft bottom of the pool. No stitches required.

We thank God for the beautiful day that we were able to share in fellowship.
