In Memory of Bro. Dick Kestle

As I sit here thinking about the great friend that I have lost,
I must pause to thank God that our two paths even crossed.
All too often we take for granted the numerous people that we know,
And it's not until they're gone, that we realize why we miss them so.
The many great and positive qualities that he held, are now so well defined,
His thoughtfulness, unselfishness and love are what made him so kind.
I will certainly miss his friendship, and those silly jokes he told,
But most of all, I'll miss the man, a brother with a heart of gold.
It feels so final and numbing when we lay a loved one to rest,
I ask myself "Did I do all I could for him, Did I do my very best?"
As I ponder all the how-comes, wherefores, what-ifs, and whys,
I wish I could have one more chance to say my last goodbyes.
Maybe then, my heart wouldn't feel like a sunken ship at sea,
But now, I can only hope that he knew just how much he meant to me.
I am though, thankful his pain and suffering have ceased,
He can now rest 'til the Bridegroom returns for the wedding feast.
I need not forget that spiritually he did believe,
And remember the great blessings that he will soon recieve.
I hope and pray the return of our Lord will be swift,
And that we along with Dick, will recieve God's immeasurable gift.
